Food was awesome, well worth the small detour. People here were nice, just be aware that the women's restroom may be a little iffy. Overall we enjoyed the food and small town ambience that so often is missing in chain restaurants.

Not enough staff and the ribs were dry and chewy. Not impressed

Had to order food to go due to Covid 19 but it's that way everywhere right now. Service was still wonderful and the ribs were the best I've ever eaten.

We stopped in coming back from a trip and it was 1 oclock and they close at 2 on Sunday. We ordered their rib plate and a pork sandwich. Their food was so country amazingly good. Yummy! If you like real country BBQ on a real smoke pit with homemade BBQ sauce you will LOVE this "hole in the wall" treasure. The decor is not much to see, but the food is well worth the stop!!! I hope y'all love this place as much as we did. It will definitely be on our list of stops when we are headed that way.

We stopped in Crystal Springs on our way home from the coast. We were set on Mexican food, but every place was closed for the 4th. I saw the smoke coming from this place, and decided it would be better than fast food. We walked in and it was definitely a small town restaurant, everyone knew everyone. I ordered the rib plate and everyone else had chopped pork sandwiches. The ribs were a bit tough, but that is what you should expect from an open pit barbecue. The sauce was different, but amazing. I just couldn't get enough. I actually bought a pint to take home. It's a sweet vinegar based sauce, very runny, but a great flavor. I cooked my own ribs tonight with the sauce and they tasted great.

Food ribs and a nice vinegar sauce. Bake beans are tasty with the same sauce on the ribs.

Great BBQ and Fixins!

Fast service, good food.

We were traveling out of town and stopped here for dinner. I got the smoked chicken , which you could not cut it off with a knife. It was chicken jerky. My sidekick got the ribs and they were so tough she could not chew them. No one spoke to us when we came in. It took forever to get the food. I hope for the people who eat here regularly that this was just a bad night.

Louise Open Pit Barbeque is THE BEST BBQ in the state of Mississippi!!! Walk in sit down; they will be RIGHT with you!!!! Has been on the corner of Highways 27 & 51 Crystal Springs Mississippi forever and they ain't go N anywhere.... In my humble opine I do sincerely believe they are the reason that the Micky D's next door went OUT of business; Why would you even think about an tired ole LargeMac burger when Louise Open Pit Barbeque has some of the best RIBs, ChicKeN, STEAKS, and yes Burgers in the entire State of Mississippi!!!! Dang I Got Hungry; Bye.... Gota go there NoW!!!!

Homemade sauce is phenomenal. Servers work hard and fast and always friendly and smiling. Another prime example of small country town hospitality and food recipes that have been perfected over many years in the community.

Driving from Jackson to the north shore, we looked for a decent lunch stop. This restaurant didn't disappoint. They have daily "Blue Plate Specials" but we wanted to mix it up a bit. I tried a combination of chicken and ribs. Skip the ribs as they are an inferior cut, ah, but the chicken. The chicken is basted with the same sauce as the ribs and probably the pork that is available, very good indeed. The coleslaw is one of the best I've ever had. If you enjoy barbecue you will like this place. The service is special and "down home". Even the tea was great, enjoy dining at this country delight.

Great place to eat! The food is amazing and their secret sauce goes great with absolutely everything! The prices are fair for what you get! It has an amazing atmosphere that makes you feel right at home! The people have a wonderful southern hospitality and make you feel like family! Highly recommended to everyone that comes to crystal springs!

Great pork steak plate and half chicken plate, there signiture almost clear BBQ sauce is too kill for, comes on all meats, don't worry %99 people love it. The reason 4 stars, a little high price on certain plates. The BBQ sauce keeps you coming back, also food is cooked over hickory wood under giant grill.

Louise's ribs are simply unlike any other I've ever tried. Their clear barbecue sauce (we've always called it mop-water) is a secret recipe, and it makes their ribs have a flavor all to themselves. We usually order ours to go, and the serving size is enough for at least two meals per plate.

Food is always as ordered and perfect temp, service always makes my family feel at home. Best part is we dont have to drive to Jackson for good food.

Service was fine, but the food was average. Chicken had a good smoked flavor, but it was basted will too much sugar. The only low carb side was a green salad.

A must stop place if you are in the area. The food is made with love in this casual setting. Highly recommend the pork steak either as a sandwich or platter!

It's a great "down home" Southern-style restaurant. Yes, the decor may not be fancy, but it's been owned and operated by the Knight family since the 1970's, and it has a bit of a rustic style to it. But I go there for the great food. I love their bbq sauce! It's a simple recipe, but it's really good! I've known the family that owns it for many years. Louise's is a local favorite.

The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is because my chicken was dried out. It seemed as if it was from the day before, but it was still good. The potato salad had to much mustard in it, but for the most part the food was good.

Small restaurant. Ribs are good. Lacking real bbq sauce and real restaurant quality service/food options. A little on the expensive side. Soft drinks are sold for like 2 dollars and they give you a cup full of ice and a canned drink. No refills of course. I believe the sweet tea is unlimited tho. Not bad for its location, but I feel like I would have been better off just going to Wilson's and going to sit at a park and eat.
